.925 Confederate Officer Button, “SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY” Civil War Relic Pendant

This listing is for a very unique, hand-made pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have combined my two careers of goldsmithing / jewelry designer and artifact restoration in creating a line of Civil War and metal detecting-themed jewelry. This pendant is a precision replica, modeled from a local-made Confederate Officer button (Alberts TX29) that was worn during the American Civil War by very high-ranking officers! Although some experts have attributed this button to Texas units because of the star motif, others have speculated that they were associated with State of Tennessee officers. There is, however, no 100% definitive conclusive proof as to exactly what officers these buttons were initially issued. One aspect is absolute certain: these buttons were made for high ranking officers in the Confederate Army and they are one of the most desirable and sought-after by Civil War collectors. The primary reason they are so desired is the Inscription on the button’s face: “SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY”. The authentic buttons are also unique in the fact that they are one of only three Varieties of Confederate local-made buttons that are of a true three-piece construction. Officer three-piece buttons manufactured by Northern firms were common during the Civil War, but more crude manufacturing conditions and equipment in the South made manufacture of this type button more difficult and less feasible. The specimen used to model this pendant had a design that was die-stamped a little off-center, which can be seen in this replica. The star is a bit left-of-center on the button face. This type of misstamp is a characteristic often encountered with local-made Confederate butttons, as well as crude design and workmanship (though the workmanship and design were pretty detailed and of good quality in this example).

This pendant is NOT an actual Civil-War period artifact!!

This pendant exhibits premium, sharp details of all elements. The bail in this pendant is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.

If you are in need of a nice sterling silver chain on which to wear the pendant, please check out my other listings. My recommended chain style for my pendant line is a 2.5 mm diameter sterling silver wheat style chain. There are several listings for the following lengths: 18" , 20", 24” and 30”.

This is a unique pendant design that you will not find anywhere else!

Shipping is $8 in the United States. (Other destinations will require a calculation on shipping).
