This listing is for a very unique, hand-made pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have started a new business combining my past two careers of goldsmith/jewelry designer and artifact restoration. This pendant is modeled from an extremely rare Confederate North Carolina Hornet's Nest Rifle Corps button (Alberts NC18). These rare buttons were worn during the American Civil War by soldiers in Company B of the 1st Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers. This style is so rare because there were only around 100 soldiers ever issued uniforms adorned with these incredibly beautiful buttons. This design is easily among the top 10 or 12 most rare and desirable of all varieties of Confederate buttons. The design incorporates an active Hornet's nest on an oak branch with a swarm of hornets buzzing around the nest. Embossed above the nest are the letters: H.N.R.C. (Hornet's Nest Rifle Corps). This pendant exhibits premium, sharp details of all elements. The bail is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.
