This listing is for a very unique, hand-made sterling silver pendant, designed for Civil War relic hunters, metal detecting enthusiasts and history buffs in-general. My name is Leonard Short and I have started a new business combining my two careers of goldsmith/jewelry designer and artifact restoration. This pendant is a precision replica, modeled from a very rare Southern, local-made Virginia State seal button (Alberts VA23) that was worn during the American Civil War by soldiers in Virginia units ...as the subject! 
This pendant is NOT an actual Civil-War period artifact! 
In the collector's realm, the VA23 is the "holy grail" of all Civil War-era Virginia buttons and authentic VA23 buttons command very high prices. The design incorporates a very beautifully executed Virginia coat of arms illustrating Virtus with the figure representing tyranny lying defeated at her feet. The coat of arms motif is displayed on a finely lined background. Encircling the outer perimeter is the Latin phrase SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS ( translated: thus ever to tyrants) and the State name VIRGINIA. This pendant exhibits premium, sharp details of all elements. The bail in this pendant is uniquely crafted with long-term wear in mind. It has an opening that measures 3mm x 6mm in order to accommodate a very substantial chain. In addition, the bail has my signature, hinge mechanism.
